This morning we responded to a call about multiple skunks in multi-catch squirrel traps on a high school campus near Marina, CA. The reporting party indicated they had first observed skunks in the traps last night at around 6 PM.

Depending on when the traps were set, the trapper could be in violation of a trapping regulation requiring traps be checked at least daily. Two traps were missing identifying tags, required by law.
These traps were set by a pest control company out of San Jose, contracted by Monterey Peninsula Unified School District. We reported the incident to the head of the school who will take up the MPUSD. We also reported the incident to the Dept of Fish and Wildlife.
